About the Home
Before taking the virtual tour, learn more about this project from Gaspar’s Owner/General Manager Sarah Henry.
This home has an amazing view sitting on the bluff in Blue Ridge. They love to cook and entertain, but this dated, isolated kitchen did not work for either of these activities. Also, the view was interrupted by the triangle shaped breakfast nook. They wanted to address the lack of connection to the adjoining space and create an open kitchen with a gorgeous view from inside and outside.
We set about solving these issues by designing a new layout. The breakfast nook was in an awkward triangle space sticking out onto the deck. It was rarely used and broke up the view and took up precious deck space.
We opened up walls on both sides of the kitchen to create a more connected entertaining space and added a bar to the dining room.
The fireplace mantel & hearth were changed to limestone and the coffered ceiling was added for visual interest. The windows in both the kitchen & family rooms were changed to have double sliders for great access to the new deck. The deck handrails had been stucco walls and they were changed to glass and the deck surface was redone to create a waterproof ceiling for the outdoor room below.
In the end the space was transformed into both a home cook and entertainers dream with a great view!
