This Seward Park home was the client’s cherished childhood home, but over the years it had been altered. He wanted Gaspar’s to restore it to its original design characteristics while adding his own style. The goal was to eventually redo the entire house.
The client is a vintage car collector, but the garage was full of equipment and leaking, so he had no protected place to store his meticulously restored cars. Gaspar’s started with the new garage and rooftop decking. The deck included new Westcoat waterproof deck with Azek decking on top of it. They also added a custom metal railing to complete the look.
The basement was used mainly as the client’s dad’s mechanical shop and was full of welding equipment and tools. The bathroom was quite rustic, and the laundry room was in the middle of the open basement. After adding a kitchen into the basement in 2020, Gaspar’s returned to remodel the main floor of the home and finish bringing the client’s style throughout the home.
In the basement, Gaspar’s made a guest suite with private kitchen. There are pops of color throughout the space, emphasizing the client’s love of color. Turquoise was used in the kitchen’s small mosaic hex tile to create polka dot effect, and orange was used in the bathroom.
Gaspar’s maintained the era of their client’s childhood and used contemporary materials to bring a modern and elegant look, all while honoring the vibrance of his style. They updated the fireplace hearth with stone to match the kitchen, along with wrapping stone windowsills.
