You know how it is when you find that perfect waterfront house with a large yard for the dogs, but the interior finishes aren’t quite what you want to live with?
This project began as a design for improvements to the prior home. But when this home was discovered during a casual search, all focus was diverted to updating the kitchen, primary living areas, and master suite.
In the interest of time, construction began within a few weeks of having started design. This meant that components like cabinetry and other precision-based details needed to be decided on relatively early in the process. But in order to do so, the homeowners were forced to make some tough decisions that would alter the expectations for budget and duration. One such decision was the 4th option presented for the master suite: expand into 2 adjacent rooms.
As other decisions were made, it became clear that each decision was largely based on whether to do now or to do later. The inconvenience of living through a remodel justified performing the work before moving in. After 10 months of construction, every room in the house was improved in some way. Even the exterior got a makeover with a new paint scheme and extensive landscaping.
