This award-winning whole-house remodel by Nip Tuck boasts a striking entryway with custom art glass doors and staircase, entertaining-ready kitchen, laundry room with dog wash, primary suite with dry sauna, and basement bath with steam shower—all tied together with updates and new wallpaper accents across the home.
Goals
Incorporate wellness spaces including steam-shower, and sauna
Maintain and improve sightlines to views
Create continuity throughout the home
Use high-quality materials, and energy-efficient fixtures
Eliminate carpet throughout the house
Issues
The homeowners severely disliked the sunken living room off the entry and the horizontal separations in windows blocking the view.
The kitchen was closed off and out of date & fashion.
The homeowners did not want the gas or wood fireplaces.
Dated, out-of-code staircase that enveloped the front entry.
Rounded walls needed to be squared-off.
Dated finishes throughout including floor stain, carpet, paint colors, and wallpaper.
The homeowners needed an area for dog-washing.
Basement rec room didn’t allow room for both entertainment and fitness.
Solutions
There was a 12-month timeline to design, coordinate, and build the project which was accomplished.
The formal living floor was raised, windows redesigned and replaced, and stucco repaired in several places.
Eliminated huge fireplace in kitchen/family room to improve view and flow and designed a gourmet kitchen for entertaining.
Redesigned and rebuilt entry staircase enabling better design, code compliance, and modern aesthetic.
Reframed rounded walls—correcting for previous poor remodel choices.
Redesigned laundry room to make room for a dog shower and kennel space.
Remodeled basement rec room with built in TV and wet bar for entertaining, as well as more clear floor space to allow for fitness machines.
Remodeled basement bath to allow for more storage and plumbed for an energy efficient steam shower.
Reworked primary suite closet to provide ample storage, and to allow for a dry sauna.
Result
New and refinished hardwoods throughout, new LVT in basement, and new paint throughout.
Modern wallpaper in several rooms for texture and for some sophisticated fun.
Decorative light fixtures throughout to add beauty, better lighting, and architectural interest.
High quality cabinetry throughout the home with very custom details in the kitchen, including walk-in pantry, paneled island, columns, and elements that provided for smoother installation.
Custom entry door with hand selected glass and Alice In Wonderland theme.
The Nip Tuck team balanced quality with budget throughout. Hardwood floors were refinished instead of replaced; custom cabinets were installed in the kitchen and semi-custom cabinets in other areas. The home is ready for many years of entertainment and enjoyment for its new owners.
